Continuing the Journey

Five years ago I began the journey to fulfill a lifelong dream. Ever since I was little, I had the desire to be a hair stylist and have my own salon. Sometimes, dreams are just that – dreams. Nothing may come of them, they may be unrealistic, or maybe they are more just wishful thinking. I believe that sometimes God places these dreams and desires deep within us to show us part of His plan for our lives. My children often ask me, “How will I know what God wants me to be when I grow up?” My response is always the same: “Stay in His word, live each day in obedience and service to God and you will always be in the center of His will.” Then, I ask them what are their desires and their dreams. Yes, these may change as they get older, but if they have a deep desire to do something or be something that doesn’t go away as they grow closer in their walk with the Lord, then I believe God put that there. That’s how it’s been for me. Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to do hair. Oh, I’ve had other dreams along the way. I’ve tried different things; followed different paths that I believe were for a reason. Through all the different paths of my life, however, I never lost the desire to be in cosmetology and to open my own salon. This is the path that God put in front of me. In this industry, there is an opportunity to impact people’s lives. I have learned that I am no longer just a hair stylist. I am a friend, a confidant to hundreds of women! I have the privilege of sharing their hurts, their joys, their triumphs, and their defeats. I never fully knew where this path would take me, and now I can’t imagine it any other way!

Well, my journey doesn’t end here. Through the working of God, I am pleased to announce that I am in fact realizing my dream of salon ownership! I am now the proud owner of Anointed Beauty Salon & Day Spa. We will be opening very soon on the corner of Mishawaka Ave. and 33rd St. in the River Park area of South Bend, IN.
